Il dipinto, un olio su tavoletta, è realizzato con una delicata tecnica pittorica e raffigurante un paesaggio alpino innevato, ambientato a Gressoney, in Valle d’Aosta — una località nota per aver ispirato alcune delle opere più liriche ed importanti dell’autore.
La scena rappresenta un’ampia distesa innevata, con una baita isolata in primo piano e dietro ad essa si vedono altre baite in lontananza.
Sullo sfondo vediamo catena montuosa , dove si nota la luce rosata del tramonto o dell'alba riflessa sulle cime innevate. La resa atmosferica, con toni freddi ma morbidi, suggerisce un senso di quiete e isolamento, tipico della pittura paesaggistica di fine Ottocento e primo Novecento.

The painting, an oil on panel, is made with a delicate painterly technique and depicts a snowy alpine landscape set in Gressoney, in the Aosta Valley-a location known for inspiring some of the author's most lyrical and important works.

The scene depicts a wide snowy expanse, with an isolated hut in the foreground and behind it other huts can be seen in the distance.

In the background we see mountain range , where we can see the pinkish light of sunset or sunrise reflected on the snowy peaks. The atmospheric rendering, with cool but soft tones, suggests a sense of stillness and isolation, typical of late 19th- and early 20th-century landscape painting.
