Interesting wooden sculpture depicting "Christ Patiens" with original polychromy and a loincloth that is not carved but made by applying a mixture of plaster and rags and then gilded with gold leaf, which is very well preserved. The sculpture has recently been cleaned by a professional restoration studio, which has allowed the ancient polychromy to be restored to an excellent state of preservation, showing vivid and saturated colors. The sculptural work can be attributed to a master craftsman active during the first quarter of the sixteenth century in the central Apennines between Umbria, Lazio, and Abruzzo. The dimensions of Christ are approximately 80cm x 60cm in width. We attach a certificate of authenticity to the sale.
