Persia, 19th century, around the 70s-80s circa. Wonderful antique tribal Heriz Serapi rug. It is a piece of remarkable rarity for this origin, as Serapi rugs generally feature the well-known central medallion. The rug, which has no restoration, is in very good condition for its age. There are slight, localized wear and small damage on the sides. This rug also boasts a "noble" provenance as it was a personal gift from Emperor Franz Joseph to a noble high-ranking officer, an ancestor of the originating family. It measures cm 402x269.
