Description
Chest with a solid fir structure covered with red velvet in precious diamond-shaped squares and straight embossed sheet metal frames with vegetal and heraldic motifs. The sheet metal used was obtained from solid wood, carved to size with a chisel and embossed. This, in addition to embellishing the work, was necessary to cover the wooden structure. Chests of this type and size were usually placed at the foot of the bed and contained spare linen. The work in question is so rich in decorations that it is certainly believed to have been commissioned by a family of high rank, as demonstrated by the coats of arms embossed on the perimeter frame of the lid. Furthermore, it has the back covered in leather instead of exposed wood. The side handles used for any movements and the central lock are contemporary.
