Great 17th century stormy sea marine painting

Great Italian seascape painting from the second half of the 17th century. Oil on canvas artwork depicting a port with a stormy sea, of remarkable pictorial quality. At the centre of the composition we find a sailing ship at the mercy of tumultuous waves that risks sinking under a dramatic sky with leaden tones. On the coast we glimpse a perched castle and numerous figures at work, well characterised and rich in details. 20th century frame in carved, lacquered and gilded wood, with some signs of aging. Painting already restored with relining, replacement of the frame and repainting of the colour in small spots. Overall in good state of conservation. Interior size H 104 x W 148 cm.
