Madonna and Child
Oil on canvas cm 73x98
Attributed to Felice Cignani
Felice Cignani was born in Bologna in 1660, in a family context deeply imbued with art. His first and fundamental teacher was his father, Carlo Cignani, an already established artist and a leading figure in the Bolognese painting scene. Felice's apprenticeship therefore took place within his father's workshop, a fertile environment of stimuli and technical and stylistic knowledge. The family artistic tradition continues with Felice who, in turn, is dedicated to the training of other artists, such as his cousin Paolo Cignani (1709-1764), witnessing the continuity of a dynasty of painters.
