Kazak carpet, 223x144.5 cm, early 20th century
Beautiful Kazak carpet from the Chi-Chi area in the Caucasus, characterized by three central elements decorated with geometric and symbolic motifs surrounded by other geometric and floral designs. The carpet is made particularly precious by the colors chosen for its creation: intense and bright colors such as dark blue and red, accompanied by beige, turquoise, and white.
Kazak carpets, representing an excellence of Caucasian textile art, are known for their distinctive geometric designs, essential but with great expressive force; they not only serve as decoration, but in many cases have symbolic meanings, thus making them an important part of the culture of the Caucasian populations. The decorative composition of this type of carpet is always original and the manual knotting with local yarns is of excellent quality, as well as the bright colors that distinguish them, make them very popular with collectors and enthusiasts of antique carpets. They are made of quality wool and are dyed with vegetable dyes that give vibrant shades of red, blue, yellow, green but also ivory.
