Antique Painted Chest
Measurements: H. 58 cm – L. 143 cm – D. 61 cm
Period: circa 1810
Origin: Tyrol
Wood: Fir
Antique painted chest, in fir wood. The entire surface is decorated with ramage motifs and pendants. These decorations are obtained with a technique similar to that of graffiti: the superficial, darker color is removed, bringing to light the original color of the underlying wood, which is lighter, thus obtaining the contours of the desired decoration.
On the front, inside two petrol blue colored squares, the same neoclassical decorations of garlands, bows, and pendants are reproduced, but this time in polychrome.
Internally, there is still the small flap compartment, useful for supporting the lid once open and for containing small objects.
