This elegant chest of drawers was made in Piedmont in the second half of the 18th century. Veneered in walnut wood, it is decorated with wooden inlays on all sides creating Baroque motifs with ramages and leafy volutes of great decorum and scenic effect. The inlays in boxwood, which is lighter, create a chromatic effect that gives the piece of furniture particular refinement. The top has a curved and shaped profile. It is also inlaid, and the design, which echoes the rest of the furniture, includes spirals, volutes and phytomorphic elements. The chest of drawers consists of four large drawers. The front and sides are curved and are connected to each other by precious rounded uprights. Small reserves in boxwood create frames around the inlays, drawers and uprights, increasing the chromatic effect and consequently the overall brightness.
The chest rests on four shapely and curved legs and is enriched by keyhole escutcheons and six handles for opening the drawers in finely chiseled gilded bronze with rocaille motifs, leaves and flowers.
This chest of drawers, due to its executive refinement and compositional elegance, can be easily placed in any environment, such as the bedroom, the study, the entrance or a hall. It is suitable to be combined with antique furniture, as well as with furniture of modern taste.
A conservative restoration will be carried out shortly.
