Unpublished oil on canvas of "Saint John the Evangelist" by Gaetano Lapis (Cagli 1706-Rome 1776), known as il Carraccetto. Splendid painting of significant interest for the enrichment of the catalog of the great master from the Marche region, favorite pupil of Sebastiano Conca. Lapis was a highly esteemed painter with commissions of considerable prestige, especially religious ones. In 1739 he was appointed among the "Virtuosi del Pantheon" and in 1741 he became a member of the Academy of San Luca. In 1741 he was also "Director of the Academy or School of the Nude in Campidoglio" established by Pope Benedict XIV. The painting, in excellent condition, is accompanied by expertise from Prof. Giancarlo Sestieri. Beautiful nineteenth-century gilded frame. Canvas dimensions 100x74 with frame 120x94
