Bottega di B. Tisi detto il Garofalo (1481- 1559)

Splendid original small panel depicting "Jesus' Prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane", oil painting on panel by a very skilled painter of Ferrarese culture gravitating in the workshop of Benvenuto Tisi known as il Garofalo and is probably a small panel from a predella of a much more complex work. So it could be an element that perhaps adorned an altarpiece, perhaps of larger private devotion and performed by the master Tisi. The panel is preserved in excellent condition and has been mounted on a beautiful Roman ebonized frame with fine gilded carvings of the first half of the seventeenth century. The measures of the panel are: 25cm x 15cm and the measures with frame: 37cm x 28cm. The painting has its certificate that attests to its age and authenticity.
