Alessandro Zenatello's painting from the 1960s captures the delicate beauty of petunias with a vibrant palette of colors. The carefully painted flowers show off in shades of white, purple, pink, and red, creating a play of nuances and contrasts. The petunias emerge from the lighter tones of white, while the purples and pinks add depth and intensity to the composition.
The light, carefully studied, illuminates the flowers, highlighting their softness and fragility. The background remains neutral to further accentuate the beauty of the buds. Zenatello's painting technique highlights fine details, bringing to life delicate and vibrant petals, celebrating the grace and chromatic variety of the petunias.
The painter Zenatello Alessandro was born in Monteforte d'Alpone on December 7, 1891, and died in Soave on January 27, 1977. His mother passed away immediately after childbirth, and this tragic event marked his human and artistic personality.
A student of Alfredo Savini at the Cignaroli Academy, he was already present, in 1912 with a painting, at the Venice Biennale, an event that would attract professionals. In 1918 he participated in the exhibition in Turin and in 1921 in the international one in Vienna.
The painter favored themes offered by rural life, namely the open and serene landscape of the Venetian countryside populated with objects and figures. Zenatello was inspired by the Viennese Secession, the Tuscan Macchiaioli, the expressions of the late nineteenth century, and above all by Felice Casorati, who founded the group of the "Painters of Verona." He actively participated in the "Chiaro di luna" artistic, literary, and social movement, against Marinetti's manifesto "Let's kill the moonlight," proclaiming himself against all intellectualism. He also worked with excellent results as a church decorator. He participated in numerous exhibitions in Italy and abroad.
The work measures 70 cm H and 50 cm L with frame.
