Noble chest Lombardy 17th century Carved and sculpted walnut Dimensions 157x 55 x h 58 Excellent condition Magnificent noble walnut chest, entirely sculpted and carved, with a splendid Renaissance decoration that is particularly rich and elegant. The edge of the lid is finely carved and the lower lid is marked by a dense nail motif. Exceptional lateral pilasters depicting two winged putti ending with a vegetal interweaving. Between the two pilasters, the splendid front elevation is divided into three sections: the central panel features the heraldic coat of arms, and the two panels on the sides are richly sculpted with medallions depicting the stylized sun. From the circular corolla with concentric petals depart the eight rays of acanthus leaves. An important Renaissance-style cornice adorns the base. The support feet under the pilasters are the classic lion paws. The furniture is intact and in excellent condition, without any modification or replacement. It stands out for the accuracy of the carving and the elegance of the structure, as well as for the extraordinary chiaroscuro effect rendered by the carving.
