Pablo Salinas was born in Madrid in 1871 and studied at the local San Fernando School of Fine Arts. In 1886 he went to Rome, where he remained for the rest of his life, a highly regarded member of the Spanish colony residing in the Eternal City. His painting, woven with light and colour, vaporous and effervescent, became extremely popular throughout Europe and allowed the artist to become wealthy and even a refined collector of antique art...(see Gallery catalogue)
