Pablo Salinas was born in Madrid in 1871 and studied at the local San Fernando School of Fine Arts. In 1886 he went to Rome, where he remained for the rest of his life, a respected member of the Spanish colony residing in the city. His painting, woven with light and colour, vaporous and effervescent, became extremely popular throughout Europe and allowed the artist to become wealthy and also a refined collector of ancient art...(see gallery catalogue)
