Mario Schifano, an artist with a rebellious and sharp soul, is considered today one of the most prolific painters of the post-war period. He immediately attracted critical attention by creating monochrome paintings that offered the idea of a photographic screen, which would later accommodate numbers, letters, road signs, and brands like Esso and Coca Cola. He lived in New York, where he frequented Frank O'Hara, Jasper Johns, and Andy Warhol.
