Louis XVI walnut console with various wood inlays, Lombardy, second half of the 18th century.  Translated
Description:
This refined console, signed GBM (Giovanni Battista Milanese or Moroni), features rich marquetry in various woods, enhanced by characteristic affronted griffins with a central lyre, a distinctive motif of GBM production, elegantly reiterated on each side. The inlaid decoration alternates floral motifs and foliate scrolls, with a calibrated interplay of chromatic contrasts and wood grains. The front is enlivened by a drawer perfectly integrated into the marquetry design; the top is made of Portoro (or Black Portovenere Marble), original and valuable, while the tapered and finely profiled legs lend momentum and lightness to the ensemble. Height 78 cm, width 117 cm, depth 57.5 cm Each item from our Gallery is sold with a certificate of authenticity issued by an expert appointed by the Court and the Chamber of Commerce of Genoa.  Translated
