Rare and fascinating dowry chest made of wood entirely carved with archaic auspicious motifs.
It comes from the Indian region of Rajasthan and was used to contain the jewels that the bride's family gave as a dowry for their daughter's wedding. The particular shape of this precious container is typical of the Mughal tradition with the small door that opens in the center of the roof-shaped lid.
The chest is in excellent condition with a beautiful patina of age and is original in all its parts, without any restoration.
