Bartolomeo Maumari
View from the Grotto
Oil on cardboard, within a carved and gilded wooden frame with volutes. It is a landscape view with architecture and rocks in the foreground, seen from inside a grotto. On the back, the probable inscription "Bartolomeo Maumari painted, no indecision was placed inside"?
It dates back to the first half of the 19th century and is inspired by the Tivoli landscape, which was a region of exceptional interest for Grand Tour travelers. It comes from a private Milanese collection and is in perfect condition.
