Pair of Louis XV Gilt Carved Wood Wall Sconces – 18th Century
Object Description:
Refined and elegant pair of "girandola" (swirl) mirrors in the full Louis XV style, dating to the mid-18th century. The mirrors feature a rich, finely carved wooden structure finished with precious pure gold leaf gilding.
The crest is characterized by an elaborate openwork design of scrolls and "rocaille," typical of the 18th-century taste, which runs along the entire perimeter of the frame, enhanced by delicate applied relief floral motifs (rosebuds and blossoms).
At the bottom, each mirror retains its original two-flame patinated metal arm for holding candles, decorated with leaves and corollas. Original mirrors.
