This elegant solid mahogany drop-leaf table, of English manufacture, was made around the early 19th century. It features a rectangular top with rounded corners, divided into three parts: two hinged side leaves allow it to be used fully open as a dining or centre table, or with the leaves folded down as a refined console. The table stands on four splayed legs to provide stability, tapering in an inverted pyramid shape, elegantly fluted on all four sides, and finished with gilt brass feet and small wheels that facilitate movement and make it particularly practical.
Thanks to its clean lines, balanced proportions, and the warm colour of the mahogany, this table is extremely decorative and at the same time very versatile, fitting naturally into interiors furnished with antique furniture as well as into more contemporary settings where it can serve as a refined and functional contrasting element.
