Minghetti Manufactory Bologna Ceramic Madonna from the early 1900s with the mantle decorated with small flowers in shades of blue, pink, and green on an ivory background. The pale yellow dress and the underlying light blue veil have a pearlescent effect. Under the base is the name Minghetti in italics with a small star on the M Bologna in block letters.
In good condition considering its age and without restorations, this polychrome Bolognese ceramic bust depicting the Madonna comes from a private Milanese collection and dates back to the early decades of the 20th century.
The Minghetti manufactory was founded in Bologna by Angelo Minghetti in 1858, initially producing plates and tableware in the Renaissance Urbino style. After his death, his son Gennaro continued, and then Aurelio in 1908, Gennaro's son, gave the company the name Ceramiche Artistiche Angelo Minghetti & Figli. The activity finally closed in 1967.
