Italian sculptor (18th century) — Pietà. 13 x 7 x h 22.5 cm. Full-length figure in carved, lacquered, and painted wood. The lifeless body of Christ rests on her knees. The composition, small in size and intended for devotional use, reveals a hand skilled in rendering volumes and articulating drapery. The modeling is essential but effective, with particular attention to the expressive rendering of the faces. The original polychromy, partially preserved, shows the Virgin's mantle in dark blue and her dress in red, canonical colors of Marian iconography. The shaped base is painted red, consistent with the tradition of Italian devotional sculpture of the 18th century. Condition report: Good condition.
