Description
Emilian oval table from the first half of the 19th century, with a solid band and central opening system.
The top is veneered in four wedges of flamed walnut, with the veneer arranged in a herringbone pattern in four sections. The veneers are placed together symmetrically, producing a regular central design that highlights the flaming of the wood. The opening is central: the two halves slide on wooden guides and allow the insertion of two solid wood extensions, which increase the seating capacity while maintaining the oval shape. The extensions have a simple surface, consistent with their function.
The perimeter band is covered with end-grain veneer, which highlights the vertical texture of the walnut and distinguishes the band from the top. The lower edge is shaped with a continuous molding and a slight carved decoration.
The legs, made of solid beech wood, have a faceted design with a truncated conical section. In the upper part there is a carved lozenge motif, characteristic of 19th-century Emilian production. The table offers a wide capacity of use even in the extended configuration.
