Large Late 1700s Empire Chandelier with 18 Lights in Crystal and Gilded Brass
Description:
Large Late 1700s Empire Chandelier with 18 Lights in Crystal and Gilded Brass, in perfect condition. Rare and antique Italian salon chandelier, with a light hot-air balloon structure in iron and gilded brass, with an elegant vertical development, in height, on several levels, which makes it an extremely airy and light architectural element and at the same time precious, thanks to the light effects that it manages to create with festoons and pendants in faceted crystal. The dominant tone is always given by the gold of the six embossed brass crowns, which is counterpointed by the bright liveliness of the crystals.
It is equipped with six circular crowns decorated with shaped transparent crystals and connected by crystal chains and pendants. The crowns are decorated with beaded profiles, while the crown with the largest diameter is embossed with scrolls, acanthus leaves and floral elements; from these median crowns depart eighteen double volute candle holder arms, in wrought and gilded iron, arranged on two levels of height 12 + 6 and also decorated with phytomorphic motifs.
The chandelier ends with a truly original final element, a turquoise-colored milk glass disc is enclosed inside the last lower crown, visible only from below and shielded by the final crystal sphere surrounded by prism-shaped pendants.
Originally, representing the main source of lighting for the halls, the arrangement of candles on several levels guaranteed a more uniform diffusion of light.
This chandelier comes from the large hall of an Emilian villa, dates back to the late 18th century and is in excellent condition, ready to hang, restored by our atelier and re-electrified. The electrical system is new, it works with 18 E14 bulbs, originally it was lit with candles. Chain and ceiling cup are missing but can be customized.
