Roll-top writing desk in full Louis XV style, with a curved front and sides, a product of fine Parisian cabinetmaking from the mid-18th century. The piece, which has six drawers at the bottom, opens by extracting the writing surface, which rotates the cylinder by counterweight, lifting it. Interior compartment with drawers and compartments.
Entirely veneered with exotic woods like rosewood and violetwood, worked in a herringbone pattern and distinguished by beautiful grain, arranged in a diamond pattern on the cylinder. Oak structure, in the tradition of French cabinetmaking.
The refinement of the shape and the use of precious woods make this an important piece of furniture, destined to enhance a prestigious environment.
The artfully arranged veneer and the balance of the lines lend great elegance to our furniture, reflecting the sensitivity, taste, and technical virtuosity of a skilled Parisian cabinetmaker from the mid-18th century.
Finely chiseled and gilded bronze decorations.
Similar examples in structure and type of diamond inlay can be found in furniture made by the Parisian cabinetmaker Jacques-Laurent COSSON, whose works have inspired other artists such as Léonard Boudin, François Reizell, and Guillaume Cordié.
Overall condition is perfect, authentic in all its components.
