George III Sterling Silver Tankard, Peter & Ann Bateman, London, 1791
An exceptional example of a George III period silver tankard, made by the renowned Georgian silversmiths Peter and Anne Bateman, son and daughter-in-law of Hester, who continued the business after her death. The body is of cylindrical form with a decorative band and a flared base. The domed lid is embellished with an elegant pierced finial, featuring scrolls and hearts, while the hollow handle has a traditional heart-shaped terminal.

Conditions
Slight signs of wear consistent with age and superficial scratches. The five hallmarks are present on the side of the tankard body. While at the base of the lid we have: maker's mark, passant lion, leopard's head with crown, date letter year.
