Oil on canvas. The artwork features a close-up, half-length portrait of a female figure, corresponding to the red-haired model repeatedly depicted by Jean-Jacques Henner, the French painter to whom a plaque on the frame attributes the work. In fact, the painting style is fully consistent with that of the French painter who established himself in Paris as a portraitist in the second half of the 19th century. The painting is presented in a frame contemporary to the canvas, as is the attributing metal plaque.
