Holy Family with the Infant Saint John the Baptist  Translated
Description:
"Holy Family with the Infant Saint John the Baptist" Tuscan Renaissance from the Florentine school. Workshop of Michele Tosini (known as Ghirlandaio) (Florence 1503-1577) Oil on panel First half of the 16th century Important carved and gilded wooden frame Panel 100 x 75 cm, frame 130 x 105 cm Excellent condition. A magnificent painting on panel that excellently displays all the stylistic and pictorial characteristics of the Tuscan Renaissance from the Florentine school. It depicts the Holy Family with the young Saint John the Baptist, one of the favorite themes of the Great Florentine Masters of the 16th century. This painting of extraordinary beauty and exceptional elegance is clearly the work of an extremely capable artist and should be placed among the first-tier Florentine painters. Indeed, the analogies with numerous similar works by Michele Tosini (Florence 1503-1577), a pupil of Ridolfo del Ghirlandaio, are evident. Ridolfo adopted him as his son and allowed him to use his name, already made famous by his grandfather Domenico. In the workshop of his father Ridolfo, the young Michele worked alongside Domenico Puligo and Perin del Vaga, who were often confused with each other due to their similar pictorial characteristics. Our panel perfectly expresses the extraordinary talents of these great artisans of the Florentine Renaissance. The excellent state of preservation allows for a viewing of the splendid scene, capturing all its pictorial and chromatic peculiarities. The colors have remained perfectly vibrant with splendid juxtapositions and refined contrasts. The shading is applied flawlessly, and the result on the smooth faces of the protagonists is excellent. The large panel is composed of three vertical sections, consolidated with 2 interlocking horizontal crossbars to prevent wood movement. The work is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity in accordance with the law, with a detailed descriptive sheet prepared by a professional antiquarian registered with FIMA. All high-definition photographic details of the work are available on the private website at the link: https://www.antichitaischia.it/it/prodotto/sacra-famiglia-con-san-giovannino  Translated
