of landscapes, female portraits, genre painting, and seascapes.
Lazare Octave Georges Victor Gallian (1855–1918) was born in Toulon and moved to Paris as a young man to attend
the École des Beaux-Arts and then the Académie Julian, where he was a student of Jules Lefebvre, Gustave Boulanger, and Charles Ginoux.
He exhibited at the Salon in Paris and then at the Salon des Artistes Français between 1878 and 1904.
In 1884, he received an honorable mention for the work Une bouée, rade de Toulon, which was later acquired by the State and
donated to the Musée de la Castre in Cannes. He also participated in the exhibitions of the Amis des Arts in Toulon.
Many works by this artist can be found in various French museums: Angoulême Museum, Musée de la Castre, Cannes, Toulon.
The oil painting and frame have been carefully and professionally restored.
