Splendid and unique Renaissance-era tabletop in rare marine cipollino marble with a pair of finely carved Carrara marble bases featuring cartouches and tips, inlays in Broccatello and Verde Antico from the Louis XIV period. Cipollino marino marble, or carystium marble, originates mainly in Greece. The name "cipollino" derives from its characteristic undulating streaks, reminiscent of onion leaves. This marble was introduced to Rome and widely used for columns, cladding, and sculptures.
