Great 18th century religious painting, Madonna with Child

Splendid Italian painting from the 18th century. Oil painting on canvas depicting a wonderful Madonna with sleeping child, of remarkable pictorial quality. For the delicacy of the complexions, the calibrated use of chiaroscuro and the presence of refined cherubs, the work is placed in the wake of the Rococo pictorial tradition. The pyramid-shaped composition shows great sensitivity in the rendering of expressions and in the care of the draperies. Scenic 19th century frame in finely carved and gilded wood, with some small missing parts and retouching of non-original gilding. Painting already restored with re-lining, replacement of the frame and re-colouring in small spots. Overall in good state of conservation. Interior size H 75 x W 63 cm.
