Splendid oil on canvas portrait of a gentleman in uniform, identified as Professor Mosè Bosisio, mayor of Monza, who died in 1846, as reported on a plaque on the back of the painting. The Bosisio family was one of the most important and noble in Monza, and the subject of the portrait was part of it. The gentleman is portrayed standing, with his gaze turned to the right, wearing typical clothing of the time. Next to him, you can see an armchair and a small desk on which a book and a letter are placed. With his right hand, he holds the glove on the table, while with his left, he holds his hat; just below, the sword attached to his belt is visible. This portrait, created by an artist from the Lombard school of the early 19th century, is extraordinarily realistic and detailed, capable of capturing and transmitting the emotions and stories of the life that has passed. Finally, the frame is original and contemporary to the painting, made of carved and gilded wood.
