18th-century oil on canvas portrait painting of a noblewoman
Period : Second half of the 18th century
18th-century oil on canvas painting of a noblewoman of Austrian origin.
This painting was made with the oil on canvas technique in the 18th century, it originates from Austria and is currently located in our warehouses in Roncadelle (Brescia). It depicts a lady whose composed and elegant pose represents a demeanor worthy of a noblewoman of the time. The artist has emphasized the richness of the dress with details on the lace and folds; the dark background enhances the colors of the portrait which plays on the lack of obvious brushstrokes, making the whole very sophisticated. The painting thus becomes a masterpiece thanks also to the golden wooden frame that surrounds the canvas. On the back there is an ancient inscription that mentions the name of a well-known painter of the time Franz Linder.
