Beautiful painted wooden panel with beautiful polychrome colors. In the central roundel, Christ is depicted with a loincloth on his hips (the "perizonium"), which is a recurring element in Christian art and represents his humanity, his suffering, and the mystery of his divinity. The panel is of fine workmanship with depictions of beautiful cherubs with birds, female masks, and griffins, and with floral volutes. Original frame, dating back to the 16th century, from Rome.
