The Holy Family, 18th-century Italian school, oil on canvas applied to panel

The work depicts the Madonna with the Child Jesus between Saint Joseph and Saint Elizabeth, presented in monastic clothes while offering a reliquary. The composition is intimate and collected, a typical expression of 18th-century Italian devotional painting. The serene face of the Virgin and the affectionate gaze of the saints emphasize the familiar tone of the scene, enriched by an elegant chromatic balance and a delicate rendering of volumes. The brushstroke is minute but soft, with particular attention to the rendering of the faces and drapery. The work, of small format, was probably intended for private devotion.
