Jean Capeinick (1838-1890) was born in Ghent, studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent, and began exhibiting at the Ghent Salon in 1862. From 1872 he became a professor at the Academy of Ghent and later became a professor in 1881 at the Academy of Brussels. He received numerous awards for his works, including one at the Ghent Flower Exhibition in 1873.
He had the well-known artist Jean Delvin as his teacher.
Today, Jean Capeinick's works can be found in the Museum of Fine Arts in Ghent, Belgium.
The oil painting is framed in a 19th-century gilded frame.
The oil painting and frame have been carefully and professionally restored.
