Roberto Masi was born in Florence in 1940 in a poor neighborhood on the right bank of the Arno River.
After two years of studying Economics and Commerce, he felt a strong impulse to pursue art and began attending artistic circles and studying with painters in his city, including Pietro Annigoni, Enzo Pregno, and Antonio Bueno. His meeting with Professor Pilade Giorgetti was decisive for his inner development and definitive integration into the Florentine art scene. He attended the free nude academy at the Florence Academy of Art. In 1970, he joined the art group "Segno rosso," culminating in an exhibition in 1972 at the Il Moro art studio in Florence, which served as the group's headquarters.
