Painting by Lorenzo Pasinelli, Susanna and the Elders, oil on canvas, late 17th century This oil painting on canvas was created in the late 17th century and is the work of the author Lorenzo Pasinelli, and is currently located in our warehouses in Roncadelle (Brescia). The signature is not present in the painting, but the expertise of Professor Giancarlo Piovanelli, attached in the photograph, confirms the artist's identity. The painting represents the biblical scene in which Susanna tries to ward off lecherous elders before they take over. The candor of the young woman's skin contrasts with that of the two men, just as the entire painting plays on a dynamic alternation of light and shadow. The whole is enveloped by a simple and elegant frame, making this painting a splendid piece of furniture. Lorenzo Pasinelli (1629-1700) was a Bolognese painter who, for his works, was inspired by a classical style, mainly representing scenes taken from the Bible.
