Pair of carved walnut two-body bookcase sideboards – Veneto, early decades of the 19th century

Elegant pair of walnut bookcase sideboards, from a historical Venetian villa, where they furnished a reception room. Datable to the early 19th century, they stand out for their important dimensions and the balance between classical sobriety and decorative refinement. Each piece of furniture is composed of two bodies: Upper body with two glazed doors, with open compartments divided by internal shelves; Lower body with four closed doors and capacious storage compartments. The lines are clean and essential, but embellished with signature details: the upper cornice is finely carved with foliage and fluted motifs, the legs are shaped with a slight inclination, giving momentum and lightness to the whole. The walnut wood, with a beautiful grain, is carefully worked, a sign of high-level manufacture, probably Venetian or Paduan. Dimensions (each sideboard): Height 252 cm – Width 155 cm – Depth approximately 68cm Condition: Good. There are minimal cracks and slight wear consistent with age.
