Pair of oil paintings on canvas – Pastoral biblical scenes
Oil on canvas
Dimensions: 36 x 49 cm
Period: Second half of the 18th century
Origin: Veneto - Italy
Description: Elegant pair of oil paintings on canvas, executed with great narrative sensitivity and decorative taste, attributable to the Venetian school of the eighteenth century. The two works depict pastoral scenes of biblical inspiration, with figures in classical clothes and settings immersed in greenery.
In the first painting, a young woman at the well converses with an elderly traveler, surrounded by amphorae and sheep: a composition that recalls the episode of Rebecca and Abraham's servant. In the second, a male figure speaks to a woman with a child, while some women watch from the top of a staircase, probably alluding to a family moment or presentation, in line with themes such as Ruth and Naomi or Anna and Samuel. The works stand out for their attention to detail and the warm and harmonious color palette. In good condition, with signs of aging compatible with the period. Ideal for lovers of sacred art and eighteenth-century landscape.
