Description:
Interesting pyx (cm.Ø9; h.18) sacred container intended to hold consecrated hosts, made of solid gilded silver with an 800 fineness (vermeil) in the mid-1900s by the Milanese silversmith Giovanni Maria Vedele (Hallmark: 506 MI) who produced his artifacts from 1954 to 1971. Made of solid silver almost completely gilded both internally and externally, it is enriched with decorations made by casting with important symbols in the religious tradition: in the lid with a small cross at the top (cm.1.5), we find the white lilies that represent purity, innocence and virginity. In the chalice (cm.Ø8; h.6) there are ears of wheat, while in the base (cm.Ø9) we find various symbols such as grapes, fish, the stag with antlers (symbol of vital regeneration) and the chalice, the host and the dove. It is in a perfect state of conservation: completely removable for cleaning. Grams 330.
