Elegant interior with a musician gentleman, lady, and dog – 17th-century Dutch School

Oil on canvas painting depicting a refined interior scene: a gentleman stands playing a lute next to a seated lady, tastefully dressed in the fashion of the time. In front of her, a small dog appears to be receiving instruction, while the lady watches him with a decisive gesture. The table, covered with a precious carpet, holds fruit, carafes, and sheet music. The setting is enriched by works of art, sculptures, and furnishings, and in the background, an external scene opens with an observer and another dog. Attributed to the 17th-century Dutch School, probably School of Dordrecht, the painting is executed with attention to detail and the rendering of light, in line with mid-17th century Nordic genre painting. The canvas has been relined. The painting is accompanied by a Louis XV style frame, made later.
