Splendid and important double-bodied cabinet with a superior elevation containing a prestigious coin cabinet with twenty-two drawers.
This is a high-end cabinet made in Rome in the second half of the 17th century and originally designed for an important Roman aristocratic commission. Pieces of furniture of such importance are difficult to find today and are truly unique.
The cabinet is characterized by a splendid walnut burl with which the entire piece is veneered: the front, the sides, the drawers of the dresser, the doors and all the drawers of the coin cabinet.
The double-bodied cabinet, finely veneered in walnut, is characterized by the sumptuous burl patterns and maple wood inlays, framed by carved moldings on the doors and drawers. In addition, it features carved twisted columns that allow us to date the era of production to the last quarter of the 17th century, during the reign of Louis XIV. Even the particular and imposing cymatium contains a drawer and has ebony wood inserts, which act as curls for the elegant curves of the cabinet.
The central part of the coin cabinet, which includes a spacious niche, has a secret compartment at the bottom, the opening of which had to be activated by extracting a drawer from the coin cabinet, but unfortunately it has been closed internally.
The state of preservation is truly exceptional, perfect both in its shiny patina that emphasizes the burl patterns and in the entire structure. It is in fact perfect in every part and has all the original drawer and small drawer linings!
