This refined corbeille sofa, made in Genoa around the mid-18th century, during the Rococo period, features a semi-ovoid structure with a backrest that curves laterally, continuing in a single enveloping curve to form the armrests. The walnut wood structure, left in bois naturel, is carved with floral and phytomorphic ornaments in the center of the backrest and the band below the seat. The molded frame, which has a lively movement, runs along the backrest, the armrests adorned with rocaille carvings, the band below the seat, and the legs. The latter, nine in number, are curved and arched. The three-seater sofa is upholstered in velvet fabric in good condition.
The sofa, very graceful overall, is particularly decorative, and the enveloping shape, as well as the light legs, make its size optically very discreet. It is also particularly suitable to be combined with contemporary as well as antique furnishings. Can also be used as a center sofa.
