Pair of Carved Wooden Putti on Carved Base from the 1700s are two naked cherubs covered only by their golden drapes. Apparently two announcing angels without wings, they stand on tiptoes with a sinuous posture and with their arms outstretched to indicate the main subject of the original decoration. They stand on two beautifully carved and shaped Baroque bases with two winged angels’ faces in the centre. The basement back sides are not decorated.
These two antique sculptures come from a private collection in Milan, they are from northern Italy and date back to the first half of the 18th century. They are in a good age related condition consistent with age, with minor flaws in the gilding and the later lacquering of the bodies,, two small phalanges are missing from the right hand of one angel.
