Majestic polychrome wooden sculpture from the 18th century, depicting a full-figure angel, most likely from the Upper Veneto or Trentino area. The work, 108 cm high and 58 cm wide, is a significant example of Baroque sacred art from Northern Italy.
The sculpture shows clear signs of exposure to intense heat, probably due to a fire: the surface of the plaster shows porosity and swelling, typical of thermal alterations. The right arm, from the shoulder to the elbow, has been reconstructed with a fabric structure covered in plaster, an intervention that, although not original, integrates harmoniously with the whole work.
Despite these signs of the time, the sculpture retains a strong scenic presence and testifies to the popular devotion and the mastery of the artisans of the time.
