Vienna 1825-30 approx. Rare and elegant sofa from the first part of the Viennese Biedermeier period. In practically intact wooden condition, with an elegant "lyre" shape, veneered in blonde walnut feather of excellent quality with masterfully arranged grains, as typical of the most refined Viennese cabinetmaking of the Biedermeier period. With a warm, golden antique patina.
Restored to the highest standards of antique craftsmanship with consolidation and shellac finish applied with a pad using museum-standard techniques.
Patina, signs of use, and previous restorations with upholstery interventions consistent with its age. The exposed backrest is polished with shellac for possible placement in the center of a room. The fabric (integrated) is a luxurious blue silk satin with refined gold cord details. This piece perfectly expresses the refined sobriety and elegance of the early Viennese Biedermeier period.
