Refined 19th-century bust, signed "Giuseppe Renda (Polistena 1862 - Naples 1932)." Made of bronze depicting a female figure caught in a moment of intense emotional and sensory ecstasy. The face, slightly tilted back, with eyes closed and lips parted, conveys an expression of inner, almost mystical abandonment. The sculpture plays with the contrast between the smoothness of the face and bust and the rough materiality of the extremities, which appear deliberately unfinished.
The work seems to emerge from primordial matter, as if the figure were being born from the stone itself, evoking a spiritual transformation or the passage between the physical and the metaphysical.
