Elegant bombé-shaped chest of drawers, belonging to the refined 18th-century Emilian production, likely attributable to the Modena area and datable to the first half of the 18th century. The furniture is distinguished by its shaped and dynamic structure, with wavy front and sides and slightly arched legs with a curvilinear movement.
It is veneered in walnut and olive wood with a refined decorative play of threaded geometric reserves, which underline the richness of the grain and the artisan mastery of the inlay. The front features three large drawers and a smaller drawer concealed under the top, all perfectly integrated into the design of the furniture.
The quality of the construction, the choice of woods and the precision of the inlay suggest a work ascribable to the context of the famous and documented Modenese cabinetmaking, as evidenced in important texts on 18th-century Emilian furniture. This is an example that is not only decorative but also representative of the evolution of taste between the Baroque and Rococo periods.
